THE PRE PRIMARY LEVEL:

To facilitate and encourage a sense of independence we teach a wide range of practical life skills appropriate to the child’s level of development. These practical life skills include the following:-

  • Eye-hand coordination and the use of simple tools.
  • Grace and courtesy:- appropriate ways to handle situations occurring in our daily lives.
  • Technology:- The safe use of technology such as computers, house appliances etc.
  • Programs in gardening and small animal care.
  • Field trip to reinforce classroom teaching. Extensive use of Montessori equipment, experiential learning whenever possible, and stimulating conversations are some of the ways through which basic concepts are introduced and clarified.
  • Introduction to Mathematics is made by giving access to Mathematical equipment in early years through which a child can easily and joyfully assimilate many facts and skills of arithmetic. With the use of concrete material like the red  rods, spindle boxes, seguin boards etc we do away with the common method of abstract teaching usually employed by all.
  • With subjects like Geography, History, Botany, Zoology the children are encouraged to see the critical relationship among all subjects and ofcourse among all aspects of life.
  • Cultural study enables the child to relate to his immediate environment and appreciate the customs and traditions followed in the society in which he lives.
  • The visual performing arts programme which encompasses fine art, craft, origami, creative drama, music and dance fosters art and music appreciation.
  • Physical Education & Health: We want our students to understand, appreciate and adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise, proper diet, intelligent choices regarding personal health and stress reduction. We believe that individual and competitive team sports are an important element in reaching these goals.

PRIMARY LEVEL:

  • It is our earnest endeavor to ensure a successful transfer from Montessori methods to the traditional, main stream school for our children who enter the elementary (Primary) school programme at the age of 51/2 years. This is done with gradual blending of the two systems wherein we ensure that the Montessori System encompasses the rigorous demands of mainstream curriculum.
  • Our Curriculum more than covers Mathematics, Language, History, Geography and Science taught in traditional schools. Drill in these basic subjects is accomplished in a variety of creative activities, This relieves boredom that often leads to withdrawal of interest or rebellion.
  • Cultural study enables the child to relate to his immediate environment and appreciate the customs and traditions followed in the society in  which he lives
  • The visual and performing arts programme which encompasses fine art, craft, origami creative drama, music and dance fosters art and music appreciation.
  • Physical Education and Health: We want our students to understand, appreciate and adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise, proper diet, intelligent choices regarding personal health and stress reduction. Karate and yoga have especially even introduced to enhance the physical and mental well being of the children. We believe that individual and competitive team sports are an important element in reaching these goals.

We set high academic standards asking students to do more than that of which they are capable by consistently stressing at all levels on the importance of careful work and accomplishment. The standard of education is not based upon the quantity of work done but on the satisfaction of work done well for its own sake. The curriculum is designed to build a supportive environment for the unhurried mind to move steadily towards pursuit of excellence.
